Associate

Michelle Lewis is an associate attorney specializing in Title IX and criminal defense at Werksman Jackson Hathaway & Quinn. Michelle received her J.D. from Southwestern Law School in 2017. Prior to joining the practice, Michelle gained experience as a workers’ compensation defense attorney maintaining a full caseload and zealously representing clients in court all over Los Angeles. During her time at Southwestern, she was the recipient of the Wildman-Schumacher Merit Scholarship and served on the Board of Governors for the Trial Advocacy Honors Program, Journal of International Law, and Women’s Law Association. While on the Honors trial team, Michelle competed in two nationally ranked criminal trial competitions, placing as a regional semi-finalist and semi-finalist. Not only did she gain valuable trial skills in competition, Michelle served as a Certified Law Clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office from 2015-16, successfully conducting over twenty Preliminary Hearings and evidentiary motions. Michelle gained extensive experience with Title IX while writing for the Southwestern Journal of International Law. She passionately researched complex issues surrounding Title IX and university disciplinary proceedings where she then wrote an article discussing the climate of university adjudication of sexual assault that was later selected for publishing. Michelle also served as Associate Editor on Southwestern’s Law Journal where she carefully reviewed and edited articles for publication. Michelle’s practical advocacy experience and robust research and writing skills make her a competitive attorney dedicated to competent representation.
